Rough, our North Sea storage facility, currently provides half of the UK’s gas storage – enough to heat 2.4 million homes over winter. But we’re not stopping there. We’ve got our sights set on transforming it into the world's largest hydrogen storage facility and creating a Net Zero connected energy hub in the Humber.</p> <p>We are seeking a highly capable System, Controls and Instrumentation Engineer (S,C&I) to support the Technical Authority in delivering safe, reliable and compliant engineering across all Centrica Energy Storage (CES) operated assets. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding technical integrity and performance, providing expert support across safety, operations, maintenance, projects and risk management.</p> <p>You will contribute to the development of discipline‑specific strategies, manage technical and operational risks, and ensure engineering standards, specifications and maintenance strategies are consistently applied. Working closely with projects and operations, you will help identify optimal technical solutions that align with business objectives, regulatory requirements and long‑term asset strategy, while supporting verification, audit activities and technical support contracts across the discipline.</p> <b>Key Accountabilities</b> <ul> <li>Provide direct support to CES +’s operated assets. This will involve regular travel to onshore terminal and offshore assets and will also require overnight stays on offshore assets. in line operational priorities</li> <li>Ensure technical integrity is maintained within discipline</li> <li>Ensure appropriate standards are maintained and applied to the operational assets as well as any projects to be enacted at the assets</li> <li>Ensure the optimum technical solution for modifications / projects are selected, aligning with strategy and ensuring solutions are designed to appropriate standards that meet operational and business requirements</li> <li>Support and participate in Health, Safety and Environment improvements initiatives to manage people, legislative and environmental risk. Provide technical input into operational risk management. Participate in root cause analysis to resolve safety and reliability issues.</li> <li>Will actively participate in CES + Management of change process.</li> <li>Ensure enactment and compliance with CES + S,C&I Engineering strategy and standards.</li> <li>Provide support and input to the S,C&I Technical Authority to ensure SECEs are identified and performance standards are fit for purpose to ensure major accident hazard risk is managed.</li> <li>Assist the S,C&I Technical Authority in monitoring test results of performance standards to ensure major accident risk is managed</li> </ul> <b>Skills and Experience</b> <ul> <li>Experience of S,C&I Engineering within the oil and gas or Major accident hazard environment</li> <li>Skilled in application of functional assurance processes and knowledgeable in the application of business processes</li> <li>Practical experience in the use, updating and planning with maintenance management systems</li> <li>A self starter, the job holder will operate with broad direction from the S, C and I Technical Authority</li> <li>Able to apply HSE principles across technical activities associated with offshore and onshore (COMAH) environments</li> <li>Excellent communication skills and demonstrate their ability to foster wider relationships within Centrica and wider Oil and Gas industry</li> </ul> <b>Qualifications</b> <ul> <li>Hold or willing to attain COMPEX 12 certification</li> <li>Hold or willing to obtain TUV Functional Safety Certification</li> <li>Hold a minimum of HNC level qualification in S, C and I Engineering</li> </ul> <b>Why should you apply?</b> <p>We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place.
