Network Cabling Technician – FAA Projects (Part-Time)

<p>Description</p><p>Concept Solutions, LLC is seeking experienced <strong>Network Cabling Technicians</strong> to support ad-hoc FAA installation projects at facilities across the United States. This role is project-based, with assignments ranging from 1–10 days up to 30 days, approximately 20 hours/week requiring the ability to travel nationwide. Technicians will install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems in compliance with industry standards while ensuring minimal disruption to facility operations.</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Install, terminate, test, and certify copper and fiber optic cabling systems (Cat5e/6/6A, single-mode and multi-mode fiber) according to BICSI, TIA/EIA, and NEC standards.</li><li>Perform cable routing, pulling, and pathway management through conduits, cable trays, raised floors, and ceiling spaces.</li><li>Splice fiber optic cables using fusion and mechanical methods; verify performance with OTDR and optical power meter testing.</li><li>Install and configure patch panels, network racks, cable management hardware, terminal boxes, and wall outlets.</li><li>Troubleshoot and repair existing cabling infrastructure using TDRs, certifiers, and other diagnostic equipment.</li><li>Maintain accurate as-built documentation, including cable routing diagrams and test reports.</li><li>Coordinate with project managers and facility personnel to execute installations efficiently and safely.</li></ul><p>Requirements</p><ul><li>High school diploma or GED.</li><li>Minimum six (6) years of experience in telecommunications or structured cabling installation.</li><li>One or more BICSI credentials: <ul> <li>BICSI Installer 1 (INST1)</li> <li>BICSI Installer 2 Copper (INSTC)</li> <li>BICSI Installer 2 Optical Fiber (INSTF)</li> <li>BICSI Technician (Tech)</li> </ul></li><li>Proficiency with cable testing/certification equipment (e.g., Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer, OTDR).</li><li>Working knowledge of TIA/EIA-568, TIA-606, TIA-607, and NEC standards.</li><li>Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.</li><li>Nationwide travel capability for project assignments.</li><li>Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, in confined spaces, and varied environments.</li><li>Valid driver’s license.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one for FAA PIV card issuance.</li><li>Prior experience in federal government or FAA facility environments.</li><li>OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.</li><li>Additional BICSI credentials beyond minimum requirement</li></ul><p><strong>Location:</strong> Nationwide (Remote / Travel-Based)<br><strong>Schedule:</strong> Part-Time, On-Demand / Ad-Hoc<br><strong>Clearance:</strong> Public Trust Preferred</p><p><strong>Compensation & Travel Benefits:</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Per diem</strong> (GSA-aligned)</li><li><strong>Lodging</strong> covered or reimbursed</li><li><strong>Travel pay</strong> (door-to-door or minimum billable day)</li><li><strong>Compensation </strong>$40/hour</li></ul><p><strong>Company Profile:</strong></p><p>Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Concept Solutions, LLC (CS) is a leading small business in technology, engineering, and management consulting.
