Head of Engineering, SAP/Oracle Platform & Transformation

<p>We are seeking a senior engineering leader to support the evolution of core enterprise platforms across HR and Finance, with a focus on the technical architecture, stability and modernisation of both SAP and Oracle estates.</p> <p>This role will focus on the technical foundations of these platforms including SAP Basis, ABAP, Solution Manager, Oracle HCM configuration and integration, working alongside Product teams who own business process design. The role will also contribute to ongoing transformation initiatives, including the SAP ECC to S4 programme.</p> <p><b>This is an initial 6 month contract that will likely extend. The role requires you to be onsite in London, Paddington 3 days a week.</b></p> <b>Key Responsibilities</b> <ul> <li>Provide senior technical leadership across SAP and Oracle platforms supporting HR and Finance domains</li> <li>Lead engineering teams responsible for Oracle HCM configuration, extensions, integrations and reporting, setting standards for code quality, release management and platform integrity</li> <li>Own technical decision making across configuration versus extension in Oracle, including Redwood adoption, BIP reporting, Oracle Integration Cloud, REST APIs and data integration patterns</li> <li>Ensure the reliability, performance and scalability of SAP and Oracle platforms across on premise and cloud hosted environments</li> <li>Support and contribute to the SAP ECC to S4 transformation programme from a technical perspective</li> <li>Lead and shape integration patterns between SAP, Oracle and surrounding systems, including middleware and service based architectures</li> <li>Contribute to SAP decoupling strategies where appropriate, enabling more flexible and modular platforms</li> <li>Work closely with Product and functional teams who define business processes, providing technical input and constraints</li> <li>Collaborate with third party vendors and internal teams to ensure high quality delivery and operational support</li> <li>Drive improvements in engineering practices including deployment frequency, automation and security compliance</li> <li>Support wider platform modernisation initiatives, including alignment with cloud and emerging technologies</li> <li>Support operational excellence across platforms, including monitoring, resilience and incident management</li> <li>Contribute to wider platform modernisation initiatives and alignment with cloud and emerging technologies.</li> </ul> <b>Experience and Skills</b> <ul> <li>15+ years of experience working with enterprise platforms in large scale environments, with strong expertise in SAP and exposure to Oracle HCM</li> <li>Deep technical expertise in SAP, including Basis, ABAP, Solution Manager and system configuration</li> <li>Experience working with Oracle HCM platforms, including configuration, integrations and reporting</li> <li>Strong understanding of Oracle tooling and integration patterns, including OIC, REST APIs and data flows</li> <li>Awareness of core business domains such as Order to Cash, Procure to Pay and Record to Report, with the ability to collaborate effectively with functional teams</li> <li>Experience supporting or contributing to SAP ECC environments and transformation programmes towards S4</li> <li>Proven experience managing teams responsible for on premise SAP landscapes and enterprise platform environments</li> <li>Experience working with and managing third party operational support teams and vendors</li> <li>Strong understanding of platform operations, including performance, patching, upgrades and system health</li> <li>Experience improving deployment frequency and operational processes to meet security and compliance requirements</li> <li>Solid understanding of integration patterns across complex enterprise estates</li> <li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to operate across engineering, product and business stakeholders</li> </ul> <b>Nice to have</b> <ul> <li>Hands on experience contributing to SAP ECC to S4 migration programmes</li> <li>Experience with Oracle Redwood UX adoption and modernisation initiatives</li> <li>Exposure to cloud hosted or hybrid enterprise platform environments</li> <li>Experience modernising legacy platform architectures through APIs or event driven approaches</li> <li>Experience driving operational maturity across large scale enterprise systems</li> <li>Background in retail</li> </ul> <p>This role is focused on the technical foundations of enterprise platforms rather than business process ownership.
