Dog Daycare/Kennel Shiftlead at Bark + Boarding Manassas

Reports to: Daycare Supervisor & Daycare Manager

Position Status: Full Time (specifically including some weekends and holidays)

Rate: $14-$16 Dependent on experience

Shift Leaders must be able to fulfill ALL duties and responsibilities of a Daycare Attendant and shall be responsible for the following additional duties and responsibilities:

Accountable for their own actions and ALL shift responsibilities and projects as well as the ability to hold shift team members accountable.

Ensure all Logs and Records are completed in a timely manner:

  • Meal & Medication Logs
  • Daycare and/or Kennel Evaluation Questionnaire
  • Shift Change Report
  • Opening & Closing Activity Sheets
  • Incident Reports (when needed)

Preparing Meals and Administering Medication to Daycare & Boarding dogs.

Effectively communicates health and behavior concerns with Supervisor and Documents them in Daycare Log Book.

Daycare Evaluations:

  • Must be able to interview dogs for socially acceptable behaviors in our single pack playgroup
  • Determine whether or not a dog has an appropriate temperament for our single pack playgroup using Evaluation Questionnaire and scoring system

Kennel Evaluations:

  • Must be able to interview dogs for socially acceptable behaviors to board with us in our Kennel or Suite environment using Evaluation Questionnaire and scoring system

Maintain the cleanliness of the facility by following daily and weekly cleaning checklists

  • Assign Opening and Closing Activities to Daycare Attendants
  • Ensure Assigned Open and Closing Activities are completed by assigned Daycare Attendants

Training and Development of Daycare Staff

  • Utilizes training opportunities for the team such as dog injuries or customer complaints
  • Actively communicates team developmental needs and issues with Daycare Supervisor and General Manager regularly to ensure growth and development of Daycare Attendants
  • Proven ability to offer verbal and written feedback to team members to hold accountability to standards
  • On boards new Staff members and teaches all aspects of the job aligned with B+B SOPs.

Shift Leader Qualifications

  • Mastered all of the qualifications and responsibilities of the Daycare Attendant position
  • Demonstrates punctuality and reliability consistently
  • Flexibility to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Demonstrates symbolic leadership as well as outstanding customer service both internally and externally

It is expected that shift leaders may be assigned special projects, duties and responsibilities in addition to the above list to develop further growth toward supervisor positions.
