Analytical Chemist

We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as an Analytical Chemist in Whitby, ON (On-site) .

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support to Laboratory Operations following standard practices.
  • Perform testing on prototypes, raw materials, and commercial batches.
  • Document and communicate accurate test results and observations.
  • Maintain data integrity in compliance with ALCOA principles.
  • Conduct HPLC, GC, dissolution, and physical testing per SOPs.
  • Operate laboratory instruments (HPLC, GC, KF, FTIR, viscometer, pH meter, etc.).
  • Use software systems such as Empower, LIMS, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Troubleshoot instrument and system suitability issues (HPLC/GC).
  • Prepare data summaries and interpret analytical results.
  • Report OOS or unexpected results and assist in investigations.
  • Ensure a safe laboratory environment and follow safety protocols.
  • Support rotating or shift-based work schedules (as required).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Chemistry or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in analytical testing (prototype to commercial batches), or 2–3 years of demonstrated proficiency at the Scientist I level.
  • Solid understanding of basic chemistry and laboratory techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of chromatographic methods and separations.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative chemical or microbiological analysis.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficiency in mathematical and statistical analysis methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Note: Salary ranges from $26–$33 per hour, depending on experience.
